BELLEFONTE -- A co-director of the Lesbian and Gay Student Alliance waived a preliminary hearing earlier this month on charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief in Centre County Court.
Lora J. Nase, 607 W.College Ave., is charged with taking a bicycle belonging to Andrew T. Dode, no address given, according to documents at the court administrators office in Bellefonte.
Dode's bicycle was reported taken from the bike rack outside Stuart Hall, where it was locked, sometime between May 6, 1989 and June 15, 1989.
On Feb. 1, 1990, Dode saw his bike chained to a rack outside Osmond Laboratory and saw a female take it from the rack. Dode later verified to police that the bike was his and identified the female to police as Nase, according to court records.
When questioned by University police, Nase admitted to using a pair of bolt cutters to take Dode's bike from the rack. She also admitted later "buying" the bike from Rebecca Nurick, 223 E. Park Ave., after Nurick modified and repaired it, court documents state.
Nase is scheduled to face a hearing for acceptance into the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program at 9 a.m. April 3. The program is designed to help individuals through rehabilitation and get their records cleared more quickly than if they did not enroll in the program.
