HERSHEY -- For the first time, the University has changed the name of an academic college to recognize a benefactor.
On Saturday, the University Board of Trustees agreed to name an Eberly College of Science in recognition of the Eberly Family Charitable Trust of Uniontown.
The Eberly trust donated $10 million to the University in 1986, establishing an academic chair in each of the departments of the College of Science. The donation also funded programs at the Biotechnology Institute and an endowment for science instruction and research at the University's Fayette Campus. Robert Eberly, a 1939 graduate, serves as chairman of the Campaign for Penn State.
