The Epp/Donohue ticket promises to take the "politics" out of the Undergraduate Student Government and make it more of a service organization, sponsoring philanthropies to generate money for scholarships.
The team also wants to form a new USG department to back students with academic complaints and correct what they say are inefficiencies in Ritenour Health Center.
"Everyone says they want to stop tuition increases, but it is almost impossible," Eric Epp said. "Instead we'd like to deal with certain specific issues."
"We want to have fund-raising activities which are fun like (the Interfraternity / Panhellenic Council's) Dance Marathon," Epp said. "We will have another department working toward creative ideas to raise money to have fun."
Scholarships for students could be developed, if USG raises enough money through these events, Epp added.
Epp and Sue Donohue also plan to pressure the University administration to increase and improve the staff and doctors at Ritenour Health Center by getting more student representation on Ritenour administrative boards.
More staff needs to be hired for the center because the new health insurance rules for graduate and international students will encourage greater use, he added.
Epp said his administration will form a department of academics to back students when problems occur with their professors and teaching assistants.
"I've had business T.A.'s who have been ineffective," Donohue said. "People have complained to the deans and nothing has been done."
Epp and Donohue said they will address parking concerns lobbying for more student representation on the Parking Implementation Board. Epp said it is important that representatives are knowledgeable about the parking situation and are willing to attend meetings.
"This is a serious issue that is not taken seriously by USG," Epp said.
USG should also be more involved in what students do for recreation, Epp and Donohue said.
"There need to be more places for students to have fun," Epp said. "If you're under 21, there is not much to do because the University has made higher restrictions on alcohol."
USG should sponsor a nightclub, Epp said.
Epp, a resident of State College, is an East Halls senator. As a senator he is chairman for a subcommittee responsible for researching the formation of a second student newspaper and is International Student Council liaison. In the past, as a senator, he has been the chairman for the committee on religion at Penn State and was liaison to Loop/Cata. Currently he is a security night receptionist.
Donohue, a former member of the College Republicans, has a work-study position as a marketing research assistant.
