Unforgivable
I believe that your decision to send the Atlantic 10 champions away to Florida, denying them their hard earned and well deserved home-court advantage in the first round of the NCAA tournament, was not only unprofessional but also unforgivable. How can you justify reserving Rec Hall for a possible men's game when you knew full well that the facility may be needed by the women's team as well? Why was the men's team granted that privilege over the women? You cite the potentially larger crowds as your reasoning for the decision but you never mention merit or that the right has to be earned. And in this case it is clear who has earned that right. Perhaps you don't realize the ramifications of this decision. By citing the monetary profit as the basis for your decision, you are sending a message to Penn State students that money takes precedent over pride at this University. Your decision has robbed the women's team the support they have worked so hard for and ultimately proven themselves worthy and deserving of. Your decision has also cheated the fans who have stood by their team all season, encouraging them and giving them so much support. The fans have been denied the chance to watch their "Dream Team" continue their "Dream Season." What kind of athletic department would turn its back on the team that brought home the Atlantic 10 championship, or at least, to what used to be their home?
