Four cars collide on College Ave.; one injured: A four-car accident on East College Avenue in College Township left one person slightly injured Monday afternoon, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
Joseph Burkhart, 28, 801 A Southgate Drive, was treated and released from Centre Community Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. No other injuries were reported.
Burkhart was traveling west on East College Avenue, approaching the intersection at Houserville Road. Burkhart changed to a left-turn-only lane, failing to notice in time that three other vehicles were stopped in the lane, police said.
Burkhart's vehicle left an 80 foot skid mark before crashing into the last car in line, driven by Hugh V. Gibbons, 1076 Cortland Drive in Lemont. Gibbons' vehicle subsequently hit a car driven by John D. Reif, RD 2 Bellefonte, and Reif's car smacked into a car driven by Carolyn Cattafesta, 320 Toftrees Ave., police said.
Gibbons' vehicle was the only car seriously damaged.

Missing stop sign may have caused collision: A missing stop sign at the intersection of South Garner Street and East Fairmount Avenue was apparently the cause of a two-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon, State College police said.
Ivan K. Lanier of Washington, D.C. was traveling south on the 300 block of South Garner Street when his vehicle was struck by Norma Gumma, RD 5 Bellefonte, who was traveling eastbound on East Fairmount Avenue, police said.
Police said a stop sign, which was supposed to be on South Garner Street, was missing.
