Two University employees and one Penn State student are under investigation for alleged thefts of money and equipment from the plant pathology and poultry science departments, a University Police services officer said.
Police would not release the individuals' names, the amount of money or the value of the equipment reported taken.
The thefts allegedly occurred during a five-year period and have been under investigation for about four months, said investigating officer Ron Schreffler.
Charges will be filed when police complete the investigation, he said.
Herbert Cole, head of the plant pathology department, refused to answer any questions.
Spokespeople from both departments said they were instructed by police not to release any formation on the two employees.
