More on marathon

I know that I am not alone when I say that I'm disappointed in The Daily Collegian for its incomplete coverage of the Dance Marathon in the Feb. 19, 1990 issue.

Specifically I am referring to its failure to acknowledge the other winners of the fundraising and spirit categories in addition to the top money-raising sorority/fraternity team.

College students raising over $671,000 for children with cancer is a tremendous accomplishment, and the unmentioned groups that won awards for their outstanding contributions of money and morale deserve to be recognized by their campus newspaper.

The Centre Daily Times and the local radio stations gave the Penn State community more of this type of information than did the Collegian.

On the Monday morning after the Dance Marathon, I looked forward to picking up a Collegian to read about the highlights of the event, and I expected to find a listing of the competition winners.

Please keep in mind that I use the word "competition" cautiously. Let no one get the impression that organizations participate in the Dance Marathon for the sake of rivalry or recognition.

It's a competition in the purest, healthiest sense of the word; it's a challenge to see who can help the Four Diamonds Fund the most.

I believe that such great achievements deserve mention, especially from our campus periodical.
