Defending Christianity

This letter is in response to the many, negative reactions toward Christianity, concerning (the American Family Association) and Josh McDowell.

In the beginning, God said nothing about opinions. He spoke only of facts and had them recorded in what is known as the Holy Bible.

The trouble with humans is that our personal opinions divide us.

Ironically, there is only one simple issue on which God has given us authority to have an "opinion" about: a will to choose whether we would serve or love Him or our own selfish, thus evil, desires. The only opinion that matters is God's . . . "man is but a breath."

True Christians represent God's claims that are clearly stated in the Bible, as God, himself, supernaturally reveals its applicable meaning.

True Christians are not those who attend church.

True Christians are not those who quote scriptures or hang them up.

True Christians are not those who call women who get abortions murderers (although in God's eyes it is wrong.)

True Christians are not those who rejoice in someone else's downfall -- whether he deserved it or not.

True Christians are not intolerant of others.

The Bible clearly speaks against legalism or religiosity, dead works, judging, unforgiveness and condemnation. True Christians follow Jesus Christ's example daily: in his integrity, his character, and his love and compassion.

Jesus walked among mere people like us on earth. He loved people such that he set captives free; he binded up the broken-hearted; he healed the lame and sick.

Before he ascended to heaven, he told his disciples to go and be his witnesses, to do what he did. True Christians are disciples of Jesus continuing in the work he has called us to do.

Along with this, he has called us to defend the cause of the widow and the fatherless, to take strangers in our homes and love them, feed them and clothe them.

Jesus, the Son of the living God, came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Without knowing him we can not possibly know what this true life really is.

Sin is bondage and deceptive. It only leads to death and destruction. God only wants to deliver us out of this lost and dying world.

By the blood of Jesus we are made free. Until we live for him, we do not know what true liberty is: freedom not to sin.

Thumbs down for sin. It is only destroying us all. It is not Christian against non-Christian. It is us against the enemy, the forces of evil! Hell itself!

Those who would believe could receive his gift of mercy and power to become sons of God!
