Gee Bee employee beaten by retail theft suspect: An employee at Gee Bee, 2921 E. College Ave., suffered a bloody nose and swollen face when a man he was trying to apprehend assaulted him Tuesday afternoon, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
Todd Shea, 26, no address available, stopped a man for suspected retail theft at about 2:35 p.m, police said. The man reportedly handed his glasses to a friend and punched Shea in the face repeatedly and kicked him, enabling the two men to escape, police said.

Student suffers injuries when auto hits bicycle: A University student suffered minor back injuries when a car hit the bicycle he was riding on Logan Avenue Tuesday evening, State College police said.
James Stanford, 411 Waupelani Drive, was riding along the 300 block of Logan Avenue at 6:10 when a vehicle driven by Frank Smeeks, 3419 Plaza Drive, ran into Stanford's bike. Smeeks was turning left into the Parkway Plaza driveway, police said.
Stanford reportedly pushed his bike home and went to Ritenour Health Center with muscle spasms.

Computer hackers waive their preliminary hearing: BELLEFONTE--An undergraduate and former graduate student at the University waived their preliminary hearing for illegally using University computers to break into various industry, education and government military computers.
Undergraduate student Robert W. Clark, 21, 234 S. Allen St., is charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a computer and theft of services. Former graduate student David Geyer, 45, same address, is charged with unlawful use of a computer, criminal conspiracy and three counts of theft of services, according to court records.
The two used University computers between January 1987 and November 1989 to illegally enter "some thirty-five accounts or processes on over fifty machines," court documents state. All charges will be bound over for trial.

Criminal Mischief: An elevator in Mifflin Hall was damaged between 3 and 8 Tuesday morning, University Police Services said. Police said someone exploded a firecracker in the control panel of the elevator.
The elevator could not be operated, police said.

Burglary: A chrome-plated jewelry box, two tackle boxes and change were taken from a home belonging to Florence Cobb, 144 Dale St., sometime on Tuesday, State College police said.
The items were valued at more than $400.
