Centre County rapist sent to 55 to 110 years in jail: BELLEFONTE -- A Centre County man found guilty of repeatedly raping two girls during a six-year period was sentenced yesterday to 55 to 110 years in state prison.
Steven W. Klinger, 33, of 163 N. Ridge St. Bellefonte, was convicted last year of forcing two girls, now ages 11 and 14, to perform a variety of sexual acts at various locations in the Bellefonte area.
Klinger had been convicted of 63 counts each of rape, statutory rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and two counts of corruption of minors.

Two cars severely damaged in intersection accident: A Boalsburg man was cited after his vehicle struck a car driven by Eileen Penn as she started through the intersection of West Beaver Avenue and South Allen Street yesterday morning, State College Bureau of Police Services said. Both cars were severely damaged.
Angelo Pistone, 602 Montclair Lane, Boalsburg, told police he was approaching a green light on South Allen Street and proceeded through it when Penn, 1006 Golfview Ave., pulled out in front of him, police said.
However, Penn said that her light had turned green before she began moving through the intersection. Police said a witness verified Penn's story.

Woman suffers forehead cut after crash on Foster Avenue: One person was slightly injured when two cars collided yesterday afternoon on East Foster Avenue by Pugh Street, State College police said.
Frances Bastian, 108 Fairfield Drive, suffered a minor cut to the forehead when Tracy Fitzgerald of Pittsburgh, driving east on East Foster Avenue, failed to see Bastian's car, police said. Fitzgerald's car crashed into Bastian's, damaging both vehicles. Bastian was not hospitalized.

State police searching for missing 15-year-old: State police at Rockview are searching for a Howard girl who was reported missing from her home yesterday.
Cassie Robinson, 15, no address given, is described as five-feet seven inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes and weighing 135 pounds, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Rockview.

Criminal Mischief: The two-and-a-half-foot square glass cover of a directory board near 16 Nittany Apartments was reported broken sometime over the weekend, University Police Services said. A trash receptacle also was damaged near 21 Nittany Apartments, police said.

Criminal Mischief: Someone damaged the washing machines on the sixth floor of Geary Hall three times between Dec. 15 and Feb. 15, University police said. Police estimate the damage to the machines at more than $200. No further information is available because police are continuing to investigate. The vandals had used the machines for free, police said.

Theft: A thesis about heating ventilation and air conditioning, valued at $100, belonging to Robert Reinhart, 10 Vairo Blvd., was reported taken from a desk in 331 Sackett Building sometime between Jan. 22 and Feb. 16, University police said.

Theft: Mail was reported taken out of several mailboxes in Findlay Hall and discarded in the first floor men's restroom, University police said. The incident was reported at 8:45 Monday morning and most of the mail has been recovered, police said.
