The results of a two-year planner's study to determine the need for a Centre Region Cultural Center will be released March 20.
The Centre Region Parks and Recreation Board yesterday heard an update on the progress of the Cultural Center Task Force.
The task force was organized by the Centre Region Council of Governments to "evaluate the need for (a cultural center) in this area and see how to pay for it," said Bob Ayer, director of the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Department.
COG may help fund the building of a cultural center, he said. The task force is assessing both the need for a center and the source of funding.
"I think that the recommendations will say that if we want to go any further with the project, it should go to an arts group," Ayer said.
In other business, the board also heard an update on progress of the Regional Park Plan Work Program. The report will recommend park development strategies to local governments, said planner Cliff Kanz.
The plans, to be completed by mid-summer, will produce a policy document to act as a guide for local ordinances, he said.
