NEWS
 
Collecting pledges, canning for donations and selling promotional items and a new computer system are all methods University students used to raise funds for the Interfraternity/Panhellenic Council Dance Marathon.
 
From video games and lip sync contests to musical balloons and rodeos, this year's Interfraternity/Panhellenic Council Dance Marathon participants had everything necessary to ward off their non-stopping, never-ceasing, ever-enduring enemy: sleep.
 
Dancers in the 1990 Interfraternity/Panhellenic Council Dance Marathon endured more than the normal aggravations of pulling the standard all-nighter or two. Aggravations include hallucinations, dehydration and all the aches and pains that go along with standing up for 48 hours.
 
Three years ago Gabrielle Opatt was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease -- a cancer of the lymphoid tissue. Yet, come March 23, she will have been in remission for two years.

SPORTS
 
Tim Webb qualified for the IC4A Championships and won the high jump and the triple jump Friday as the men's track and field team won a tri-meet against Shippensburg and Glennville State at the Indoor Sports Complex.
 
Heading into the season, Coach Glenn Thiel said the big question surrounding this year's men's lacrosse team is how effectively the players can cover the entire field. A 9-3 exhibition game victory on Feb. 17 over Cortland University in Holuba Hall could not have answered that question any better.
 
Scott Ehlers was a swimmer during his days at McClintock High School in Tempe, Ariz., and when he graduated, he had never once played volleyball.
 
Despite fighting back from a two-game deficit, the men's volleyball team fell to the University of Manitoba in a marathon match Friday night at Rec Hall.

Three Penn State wrestlers pinned their opponents to lead the wrestling team to a 30-9 victory at Lehigh on Saturday. The Lions also trampled Lock Haven in the Eagles' backyard on Friday night, 27-9.

For the first time this season, no one excelled for the men's gymnastics team.
 
On Friday, a Kate Smith tape sang "God Bless America" in the pregame ceremonies. On Saturday, when the graduating members of the ice hockey club were honored, defenseman Davis Mulholland's engagement was announced to the sellout crowd.
