Stop dreaming

After reading Dana Difilippo's article that appeared on the front page of the Feb. 12 Collegian, I was shocked. Who is Bob Bowen, and who the hell does he think he is?

Apparently, Mr. Bowen is PSU's self-appointed Christian savior. Mr. Bowen and his fellow members of the American Family Association, all five of them, have decided that rock music must be "banished" from our cafeterias.

The AFA wants no compromise with other students; according to Mr. Bowen, it's either Classical or Christian music or no music at all. I would like to thank these five people and the authors of the four complaints for making the decisions of over 30,000 other students.

Consider these points:

-- Bowen states that, "The lyrics (of rock songs) are totally against what (Christian) people believe in." Now seriously, all rock songs? Do Belinda Carlisle and Whitney Houston sound like messengers of Satan?

-- Is the music that loud in the cafeteria that you can really hear the words anyway?

-- And finally, Mr. Bowen speaks of Christian values throughout the article. I am a Catholic, Mr. Bowen, and I was never taught to "campaign" against anyone.

You and your group would like to campaign against "sewage" like rock music and the promotion of homosexuality. Not very Christian.

So, please Mr. Bowen, rethink your ideals and stop dreaming that five people can brainwash an entire campus.
