Eight teen-agers were hospitalized after a two-car accident on Route 144 at 7:40 Saturday night, state police at Rockview said.
A car driven by Michelle Rudy, 17, of Port Matilda turned south onto Route 144 at the intersection of Route 2008 in Potter Township, police said. Another car, driven by Jon Franks, 16, of Centre Hall was also traveling south on Route 144 at a high rate of speed, police said. Franks' car rear-ended Rudy's and both vehicles were severely damaged.
Franks and his three passengers, Charles Harter, 16, also of Centre Hall, Cheryl Courtney, 16, and Monica Tittman, 14, both of State College, received minor injuries, police said. All were treated and released from Centre Community Hospital, hospital officials said.
Rudy and her three passengers also were transported to Centre Community Hospital. Rudy was admitted to the hospital and was listed in favorable condition last night, hospital officials said.
