Parents will have the opportunity to voice concerns about the State College Area School District's expansion plans, which include the adoption of a middle school.
Members of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Demographics and Building Utilization will present their report at a public hearing Monday to the community, said William Moyer, school board president.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the State College Area Intermediate High School, 650 Westerly Parkway.
Moyer said the board expects parents' concerns to focus on the effects of the possible adoption of a middle school on students, rather than on construction or financing. The community will hear input in the decision-making process through this meeting.
"We are going to have to build something, it's just a question of what rather than whether or not," he said.
School officials admit that several questions will be raised regarding the middle school concept.
Parents have already voiced concerns about placing sixth graders with older seventh and eighth graders, Moyer said. The hearing will enable the administrators to incorporate community concerns into the development of their expansion plans, he added.
