Music isn't sin
This letter is in reference to the controversy surrounding music in the dining halls. Does the AFA live on the same planet? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the radio being played in the dining halls? Yes, there are rock bands that sing about drugs. However, just because a rock band sings about drugs doesn't mean they are praising drug use. Last semester, I saw a movie on rock music sponsored by a Christian group. In the movie, fans at a concert were portrayed as screaming devil worshippers. This problem is one of ignorance. The AFA and people like them don't seem to know what the world is like. Here is a possible solution to this dilemma: Associate with people unlike yourselves. For example, instead of going to your church group Friday night, go to a party or a bar. Furthermore, attend a rock concert. You will see sex and drugs at these places. But ask yourself this question: does the music cause this behavior or is it a reflection of what is going on in the world? Furthermore, you will see that not all people at these events are the depraved individuals you believe they are. Some of us don't take drugs. Some of us even care about other people. Oh, but forgive me for asking you to experience these social gatherings. I wouldn't want to condemn you to the fate awaiting the rest of us sinners.
