Man arrested in connection with alleged Snow Shoe rape: A Clarence man was arrested Tuesday by state police at Philipsburg in connection with a rape reported earlier this month while he was free on a weekend furlough.
David L. Durachko, 30, was arrested on charges of rape, voluntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and indecent exposure for allegedly raping a Snow Shoe Township woman Feb. 4, police said.
Durachko was incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution at Crescent and released on a weekend furlough when the alleged rape occurred, police said. He was arrested at the prison, and his bail for the rape was set at $30,000, police said.
Officials at the institute did not release the reason Durachko was originally imprisoned, and would not release any further details last night.

Memorial service tonight for two students killed in crash: A memorial service will be held tonight at Eisenhower Chapel for two University students killed in a recent car crash as they were returning from a Billy Joel concert in Endicott, N.Y.
The service, which is being held for Elizabeth Munley and John Scott, is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Rebersburg woman assaulted; Rockview police investigating: A 40-year-old Rebersburg woman was assaulted by an 18-year-old Rebersburg woman known to her, state police at Rockview said.
The assault occurred at 4:30 yesterday morning and police are continuing to investigate. No names or other information was available.

Student drives without lights, will be charged later with DUI: A female University student who was stopped for driving without her car's headlights turned on will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, University Police Service said.
She was turning from College Avenue onto Burrowes Road when she was stopped by a University officer, police said.
Police would not identify the student because charges have not yet been filed.

Criminal Mischief: Two male University students were served warrants Tuesday by the Beaver County sheriff for trespassing, University police said. They were taken before a Beaver County district magistrate, and each paid $72 in fines, police said.

Disorderly Conduct: Unknown persons smeared the walls of fourth floor Packer Hall with shaving cream, and set off fireworks on the fifth floor yesterday morning, University police said.
No property damage resulted from the incidents, police said.

Theft: A brown leather chair valued at $300 was taken from Alpha Zeta fraternity, 360 N. Burrowes St., sometime between Feb. 4 and Feb. 5, State College police said. The chair was not identified as missing until Feb. 10.
