Jury selection for the trials of John Fabrizio and Eleanor Kraft, two former top administrators of the State College Manor Nursing Home, has been delayed until April.
Rosadele Kauffman, one of the defense attorneys, said the jury selection has been postponed because important witnesses were unable to appear during a trial in the current court term.
On Monday, the court established three days at the end February for the trial, but "expert witnesses for both sides could not be available for the date the court had set," she said, "so it got moved back until the next term of court."
Kauffman added that "this case is expected to be longer than most of the trials in this county."
Centre County Assistant District Attorney Karen Arnold, who is prosecuting the case, and Joseph Almendola, who is representing Fabrizio and Kraft with Kauffman, were unavailable for comment yesterday afternoon.
Fabrizio, of Bethel Park, and Kraft, of State College, were two administrators at the nursing home at the time of alleged abuses to residents. Each is charged with 11 counts of reckless endangerment in connection with those incidents.
