  • Student bitten by dog outside Willard Building: A University student was bitten yesterday by a black Labrador Retriever outside Willard Building, University Police Services said.

    Marina Anghel, 248 S. Atherton St., was bitten on the nose and the lip at about 2:20 p.m. University police are searching for the dog and its owner to check if the dog has its rabies vaccination, police said.

    The owner of the dog should contact University police at 865-1111.

  • Man causes two-car crash by rushing a yellow light: A Mechanicsburg man admitted to causing a two-car accident at the intersection of West Branch Road and South Atherton Street at 3:56 Sunday afternoon, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Matthew K. Rice, 21, of 461 Wood Crest Drive told police he was rushing to beat a yellow light at the intersection. He pulled in front of another car driven by Alhua Ning, 38, 9 F Graduate Circle.

    Ning told police that she hit the brakes but could not stop before hitting Rice's car. Both cars sustained light damage.

  • Criminal Mischief: A window valued at $300 was broken sometime yesterday morning in the Faculty Building, University Police Services said.

  • Criminal Mischief: An empty glass display case, valued at about $200, was broken in Eisenhower Auditorium yesterday morning, University police said.

  • Theft: A Realistic portable compact disc player valued at $175 belonging to Mark J, Prince, 239 E. Prospect Ave., was reported taken from his apartment sometime between 10:30 Saturday night and 2:30 Sunday morning, State College police said.

    The door to the apartment was unlocked at the time, police said.

  • Theft: Two pairs of surgical scissors, valued at $100, belonging to Centre Community Hospital, 1800 E. Park Ave., were reported taken at 2:04 Sunday afternoon, State College police said.

    Both pairs are silver with gold finger holes and have red tape on them, police said. Police had no other information about the equipment.
