RHAB creates outlet for student comments

Dorm students with comments or complaints about their living arrangements now have a new avenue to voice them.

On-campus students can fill out a comment sheet or call a telephone hotline offered by the Residence Hall Advisory Board, said Susie Williams, assistant director of RHAB.

RHAB fields comments and complaints about dorms and dining commons from students living on campus and delivers them to dorm managers, she said.

Dawn Sowinski, an ARHS representative of Pollock Halls, said she and some other residents of her floor used the comment sheet to request a microwave in their dining hall and a vending machine in their dorm.

Already the hall has received a vending machine, and the residents expect a microwave in the dining hall by the end of the semester, she said.

Comment sheets can be filled out in area government offices in area commons, she said. And students can call the RHAB hotline anytime at 863-3817, she added.

"We want people to know if they feel unhappy with (conditions in the dorms and dining commons), that they can change it and that we're here working for them," Williams said.

RHAB implemented the comment sheet and hotline about two weeks ago, she said. The two will stop one week before finals.

"We're hoping that if students have a problem there's someone they can call that can hopefully do something about it," said Kim Tomesko, president of RHAB.
