  • Heat meant to cook fries roasts cabinet instead: A grease fire started in a kitchen at 418 W. Foster Ave. at about 5:20 last night, when residents were cooking french fries. No one was injured and no serious damage resulted.

    Alpha Fire Chief Steve Triebold said although smoke filled the house, the fire was quickly contained and the two residents in the house had evacuated. Three fire engines reported to the scene.

    Five men, Jeff Feen, Paul McKelvey, Steve Murphy, Eric Boyer and Scott Dede, reside at 418 W. Foster Ave. The two residents who were in the house at the time refused to be identified, and said they called the fire department after the grease fire start. The fire "cooked one of the cabinets" one resident said, but no cost estimate was available.

  • Drug paraphernalia and substance confiscated: Drug paraphernalia and a small amount of an unknown substance were confiscated from a room in Hamilton Hall at 9:30 Monday night, University Police Services said.

    Police have not issued any citations in the incident but are continuing an investigation.

  • Bellefonte woman allegedly assaulted by man she knew: A Bellefonte woman was reportedly assaulted Monday by someone she knew, state police at Rockview said.

    Lari Ishler reported to police that she was assaulted at 7:00 a.m. along Route 4007 in Boggs Township, police said. Police had no other information on the incident but said charges will be filed.

  • Two cars damaged in crash on West Nittany Avenue: Two cars sustained damage when they collided on West Nittany Avenue yesterday afternoon, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Stacey L. Lehman, 184 Sycamore Drive, pulled into the path of Allison V. Albinski, 1116 S. Atherton St., who was traveling on South Burrowes Street, State College police said.

    Lehman's vehicle suffered about $2,500 in damages while Albinski's car sustained $300 in damage.

  • Theft: A former University staff member was cited for theft of services yesterday for using a stolen parking permit, University police said. A University officer noticed the permit while he was issuing parking tickets in Parking Lot Blue A, police s
