Two University students were killed in a car accident Sunday as they returned from a Billy Joel concert in Endicott, N.Y., Pennsylvania State Police at Towanda said.
Two other students remain hospitalized in Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
Elizabeth Munley, no age given, of Endwell N.Y., and John Scott, 19, of Endicott were pronounced dead on arrival at about 5:30 p.m. in Packer Hospital, Towanda police said.
The East Halls Residence Association may soon name a piano lounge in Findlay Commons after Scott, who was president of Snyder Hall. A meeting will be held to discuss the possibility but a date has not yet been set, said Kevin Schiller, former president of Stuart Hall.
Elaine Stanek, 19, of Endicott was in fair condition and Marla Sincavage was in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said, The spokeswoman would not elaborate on the extent of their injuries.
The driver of the other car, Morris Lane, 59, of Athens, N.Y., is in serious condition at Packer Hospital, the spokeswoman said.
The four were returning from a Billy Joel concert traveling southbound on Route 220 when Stanek, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle as it hit a patch of snow.
The car went into the northbound lane and hit another vehicle, throwing Scott from the car. Police said the local fire department had to cut the car apart to rescue the other three students.
