Not imposing
In response to Andrew S. Coll's "Remove Religious Root" (The Daily Collegian, Jan. 29), I would like to bring up three points. First, I would like to say that I am expressing my opinion, not "imposing" it as Mr. Coll states pro-life advocates do. The pro-choice and pro-life movements are both struggling for what they believe is right, and both are entitled to express their views. Secondly, Mr. Coll gives the impression that Catholics are the only pro-life supporters. Why then, is there such a great debate over the abortion issue when this "Catholic Hierarchy" that is "imposing" their views only makes up one quarter of the population. Lastly, religion is not always the sole reason for every woman who stands against abortion. I'd like to remind Mr. Coll that not all Catholics are mindless and unable to make their own decisions. With all due respect to the Pope, even if he decided that abortion was acceptable within the Catholic church, this Catholic woman would still be pro-life. Keep that in mind before you decide to stereotype again. After all, I could stereotype you as the "typical college male" you say you are. I could also stereotype you as an engineer, but I don't believe in stereotypes. I believe in life.
