Man treated for injuries in accident on Route 504: Two people were treated and released from Philipsburg State General Hospital Saturday after an early morning accident, state police at Philipsburg said.
Brian S. Kopchig, 18, of Hawk Run was treated for head injuries and his passenger, George Steele of Lanse, was treated for chest pains, police said.
Kopchig was reportedly driving downhill on Route 504 in Rush Township when he failed to negotiate a turn, police said. Kopshig's truck went up an embankment, struck a tree, rolled over and landed on its wheels. The truck continued across the road and struck another tree, police said.
Kopchig was cited for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Police nab Reading man who was hot wiring a car: A Reading man who attempted to hot wire a car yesterday morning was apprehended by a State College officer who was sitting in his patrol car nearby, police said.
Scott Hummel, 18, was caught trying to hotwire a car belonging to Arlene Hicks, 223 Easterly Parkway, while it was parked outside her residence at 12:10 a.m., police said. Hummel was arraigned before District Magistrate Robert Shoff yesterday and put in Centre County Prison in lieu of $1,000 bail, police said.

Man tries to break up fight; gets bat on the head instead: A State College man was reportedly hit on the head with a baseball bat when he tried to break up a fight on the corner of Pugh Street and Nittany Avenue at about 2 Saturday morning, State College police said.
William Mercadant, 131 Keller St., was treated and released from Centre Community Hospital for a slight bruise, police said. No information on the fight was available.

S.C. man is treated after Route 64 one-car crash: A State College man was treated for facial and ankle injuries and released from Centre Community hospital yesterday after an one-car accident on Route 64 in Walker Township, state police at Rockview said.
John Brutzman, 79, was traveling south when his car crossed the roadway and struck a guardpost and spun around, police said. Brtuzman's car was severely damaged.

Man leaves accident scene after plowing parked car: A Pleasant Gap man is suspected in a hit-and-run accident that occurred at 4:30 yesterday morning, state police at Philipsburg said.
Daniel Swisher was reportedly traveling north on Route 144 in Pleasant Gap when his car left the roadway, jumped the curb and continued into the yard of Paula Kasan. Swisher's vehicle hit Kasan's car, which was parked in her yard, and then re-entered Route 144, police said. Swisher's vehicle came to a stop against the curb of Route 144.
Swisher reportedly walked away from the scene of the accident, and police have contacted him.
Kasan's car was moderately damaged, police said.

Criminal Mischief: The tires of a 1963 Ford Thunderbird were punctured sometime between Jan. 27 and Feb. 3, state police at Philipsburg said.
The car, belonging to Colin Williamson, was parked near his Unionville residence when the incident happened, police said. Damage is estimated at $300.

Criminal Mischief: The rear window of a car belonging to Juhn Kutzko, 733 W. Whitehall Road, was reportedly broken sometime between Friday and Saturday, State College Police said. The car was parked on the 500 block of East Foster Avenue. No damage estimate is available.

Theft: A $2,000 Macintosh computer was taken from 20 Borland Laboratory sometime between Thursday and Friday, University police said. Police said they believe someone entered the room through a window, but there were no signs of forced entry.
