Not diversity

The Penn State diversity advertisement (Jan. 22) brought to mind the words of God speaking through Isaiah, "The look on their faces testifies against them: they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves" (Isa 3:9).

Tolerance and acceptance of others based on their intrinsic characteristics is a worthy goal. However, the inclusion of immoral and offensive conduct within the concept of diversity is destructive to the concept itself.

Is it not absurd to equate a person's color or nationality with the practice of sodomy? Or, is the acceptance of sodomy the goal of diversity?

The writing of the psalmist is obviously true, "The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men" (Psa 12:8).

For leaders to promote acceptance of conduct which is clearly in violation of God's instruction can only lead to personal and corporate catastrophe.

"Woe to them who call evil good and good evil . . ." declares the prophet (Isa 5:20). We are not to comfort each other in our various sins but to encourage repentance.

In this sense of encouragement, I testify to the grace, mercy, peace and love of the Lord Jesus who delivers from the bondage of sin and in whom is salvation. I encourage sober consideration of I Corinthians 6:9-11.
