The Council of Commonwealth Student Governments will decide whether or not to add the executive position of vice coordinator to its group at tomorrow's council meeting.
The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., tomorrow in 301 HUB.
"(Current Coordinator) P.J. (Sternberg) has been so busy this year," said CCSG University Board of Trustees Representative Brian Donaldson.
The council currently has one coordinator, a representative to trustees, representatives to the University Student Advisory Board, executive delegates, faculty senate representatives and a chairperson who runs council meetings.
"CCSG coordinator has many of the same duties as USG president," Donaldson said. "There is no one here that P.J. can really direct things, too. He needs someone second in command."
Vice coordinator would be second in command to the coordinator like a vice president of the Undergraduate Student Government is to the president, Sternberg said. He added that some of the vice coordinator's duties would include attending meetings, overseeing the regionals and helping the coordinator.
The new position will be added to CCSG's constitution if two-thirds of Student Government Association presidents and representatives approve the proposal.
In other business, Assistant Vice President for Student Programs Tom Eakin and Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Ken Varcoe will talk about campus finances and enhancement funds to CCSG members.
Sternberg said the speakers will discuss how money is dispersed among the campuses, why some campuses receive money while others do not and how students can help decide how the funds are spent.
CCSG members will also vote to decide if seniors from Commonwealth campuses should have the opportunity to donate their $50 general deposit back to their own campus, Donaldson said.
Each campus might decide to have its own senior class gift or just to donate their deposit for general improvements at their campus, Donaldson said.
Currently, all students are offered the opportunity to donate their deposit to University Park's senior class gift or get a refund.
"If I graduated as an associate degree student I'd want to give my money to that campus," Donaldson said. "Right now those students don't have that opportunity."
This meeting is CCSG's third for the 1989-1990 academic year. Four meetings are held each year. Student Government Association presidents and representatives from the 18 Commonwealth campuses and two colleges are present at council meetings.
