Sunlight blinds driver; injury results from crash: A State College woman traveling on University Drive was slightly injured in an accident in which she was temporarily blinded by sunlight and struck another vehicle yesterday at the Easterly Drive intersection, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
Janet Gray, 520 E. Hamilton St., told police she did not see the traffic signal change and proceeded through the intersection. Ronald Hodes, 1162 Smithfield Circle, was making a left turn from Easterly Drive onto University Drive when Gray's vehicle passed through his right-of-way, police said.
Gray complained of minor pain in her arms but did not require medical attention, police said.

Missed traffic light causes minor two-car accident: A car driven by Barry Cole of Port Matilda struck a car driven by Anne Clymor, 1146 Cortland Drive, after Cole missed a traffic signal at the intersection of East College Avenue and Elmwood Street yesterday, State College police said.
Cole said he did not see the traffic light as he was driving on East College Avenue. No injuries were reported, and the cars received light damages.

Bus takes a sharp turn knocking cyclist down: A University student was slightly injured when a bus knocked him from his motorcycle yesterday, University Police Services said.
William E. Fleederbach Jr., 22, 801 Southgate Drive, was stopped on Shortlidge Road at the intersection of Pollock Road at 10:26 p.m., police said. An Adirondack Transit Lines bus driven by John Sidbilly, 46, Copiague, N.Y., turned onto Shortlidge from Pollock too sharply and struck Fleederbach, police said. Fleederbach was knocked off the motorcycle and the bus ran over the motorcycle, "squishing" it, police said.
Sidbilly was cited for the incident, police said.

PSU student brought to magistrate to pay fines: A state constable for Centre County Court took a University student into custody to pay more than $500 in parking fines, University police said.
Shawn Arango, 22, 411 Waupelani Drive, was taken before District Justice Clifford Yorks to pay $561 in parking fines owed to various local communities, police said. Arango also owes $79 in court fees, police said. On Tuesday, she paid $450 of the total due, police said.

Accident victim remains in serious condition in Geisinger: The victim of a Tuesday afternoon accident yesterday remained in serious condition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, with head injuries, fractures and abrasions, Geisinger officials said.
Frieda Smith of Howard was flown to the medical center by Lifeflight helicopter after her car hit a tree on Route 26 near the State Correctional Institution at Rockview, State College police said.

Forgery: A State College woman reported that someone forged her name on four checks taken along with her purse two weeks ago, State College police said. Police refused to release the amount of the used checks, but said they were not for a large amount.

Theft: A 10-speed mountain bike valued at $200 was reported taken between Jan. 29 and yesterday from 217 S. Atherton St., State College police said.
Richard Thoms said his gray Western Flyer bicycle had been parked and secured in the basement parking area of his residence.

Theft: Two hand carts belonging to University Mail Services and valued at $240 were reported taken from Parking Lot Green C behind Waring Commons sometime between Monday and Tuesday, University police said. One cart was left in an unlocked mail truck and the other was left unattended in the lot, police said. No mail was taken.

Theft: Wooden steps valued at $200 were reported taken from near a dumpster behind Wolfe and Ritner halls sometime between Jan. 26 and Jan. 30, University police said.
