A male University student faces charges of rape, unlawful restraint and indecent assault at a preliminary hearing scheduled for 2 this afternoon at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
Al J. Romanelli, 409 E. Fairmount Ave., allegedly raped a female University student during a fraternity party at Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, 409 E. Fairmount Ave., early last December. Romanelli, a member of the fraternity, was later identified by the all He was released on $50,000 bond posted by his parents early Monday evening.
According to court records, Romanelli and another fraternity member invited the woman and her friend upstairs to the second member's room during a party on Dec. 2. Romanelli then allegedly convinced the woman that her friend and the other fraternity me Court records indicate that the woman later became agitated when she wanted to leave the fraternity and discovered that her friend had already went back to her residence.
When the woman went back to Romanelli's room for her coat, Romanelli reportedly prevented her from leaving.
Romanelli allegedly tore the woman's clothes off and raped her, according to records. The alleged incident was reported to police Jan. 17, and Romanelli was identified by the victim Jan. 23.
