Come on Collegian, let's get on the ball! This past Sunday (Jan. 21), I spent my afternoon watching the NHL All-Star hockey game, a game which many of you know has usually been absent form public T.V. until this year.

Monday morning, when I picked up the Collegian, I eagerly flipped to the Sports section to find . . . nothing. Nothing but the final score in small print hidden at the bottom of the page.

Where were the highlights, the photos, or even a small article acknowledging the event from the day before? I wasn't expecting front page material, just something to cut for remembrance. Needless to say, I was sadly disappointed.

NHL coverage in your paper has been sparse in the past, but this wasn't just any game. It was a major event.

It has taken the major T.V. networks years to realize that professional hockey has earned its place in the sports world limelight and I hope that it doesn't take you quite as long to follow suit.
