Josh is coming
It's 7:55 a.m. Through sleepy eyes you read it again, but decide to ignore it. At 9:05, you read it again. By 1:25 p.m. you can ignore it no longer. It's plastered all over campus, "Josh is coming . . ." and no one knows why. Who is this Josh guy anyway? Four years ago, I asked myself that same question. In fact, the first time I heard Josh speak, on the television screen right before my very eyes, I had no idea who he was, but I listened to him anyway. I listened to him not because I knew that he had spoken (at) more than 800 universities in over 70 countries, not because I knew he had won the Lyman Strauss Speaker of the Year award, but simply because he caught my attention as I was changing the channels of the television set. He spoke with confidence and ease like he knew what he was talking about and his fluent speech, complemented by quick wit and vivid humor, kept me, as well as the 3,000 students seated before him, locked on his every word. That day and the three times that (I) heard him speak live, Josh spoke with great purpose. When you hear Josh speak, you know that he's not just talking to an audience, he's communicating to people he really cares about, reaching out to offer help where none seemed to exist, providing solutions that no one else would. I know because what he had to say changed my life like no other speaker ever has. Josh is coming . . . !
