Terrible performance

Enough is enough. For the past week we have read people telling Gregory Roth that he's wrong about the Bob Dylan concert.

These people have implied that the show was magnificent, and if you didn't agree, well, something was wrong with you. (Come on) folks, its time to wake up and smell the toast burning.

Bob Dylan's performance at Rec Hall on January 14 was terrible. Admit it. Even if you were familiar with the material, his vocals were incomprehensible.

Case in point: "All Along the Watchtower" is one of our favorite Dylan songs. Ironically, when we were talking about the show later that night, only one of the four of us who attended realized that he had performed the number. Dylan's rapid, disinterested delivery failed to do justice to a classic song.

One of the letters indicated that Roth had no right to criticize Dylan's performance since it was his first time to see Dylan. Even if this is the case, what's the point?

We've seen Dylan on several occasions, and this show was the worst by far. Granted, the sound in Rec Hall isn't the best, but Dylan made no effort to enunciate.

He's always been an erratic live performer, but nobody wants to pay 20 bucks to see a "legend" coast by on his reputation.

Let's get real folks. The only close-minded people were the ones who decided that they were going to enjoy the show no matter what.

The only thing more pathetic than watching someone well past his prime is listening to people too blind to realize that their hero's best days are long gone.
