Bar employee had allegedly requested an undue cover charge: A Surf Club employee is under investigation for allegedly requesting a cover charge at the bar Saturday night from certain customers when there was none, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
Yesterday, the manager of the Surf Club, 128 E. College Ave., told police a customer complained about being charged Saturday. Police do not know if the charges happened on nights other than Saturday.
Police have a suspect and are continuing to investigate.

One injured after two-car accident in Harris Township: One person was injured after a two-car accident on the Route 322 bypass in Harris Township at 1:42 Sunday afternoon, State College police said.
John Lemke, 49, of 523 Fairway Road, was treated and released from Centre Community Hospital. The car he was driving was hit by another vehicle driven by Karenketitia M. Waters, 45, of Horsham.
Waters reportedly had shoulder pains and let go of the car's steering wheel as it was traveling east on Route 322, police said. Lemke told police he saw Waters' car swerve and cross the highway and moved as far right as possible before it struck his car.
A witness, Donna Shepler of Mechanicsburg, told police she was driving in front of Waters when the accident happened. She said Waters' car looked as if it was going to pass her in the lane of oncoming traffic.
Four passenger's in Waters' car and one passenger in Lemke's were not injured, police said.
An investigation is continuing.

Icy patch causes spill; driver charged with DUI: A Centre Hall man was charged with driving under the influence after a one-car accident in Harris Township Saturday night, State College police said.
Glenn M. Benner, 25, was driving east on Route 45 near West Branch Road at 11:32 p.m. when his car crossed an icy patch and began sliding, police said. The car spun around and came to rest in a ditch. Benner left the vehicle and was picked up on West College Avenue, police said.

Burglary: A State College woman reported that someone tried to break into her bathroom window at 318 W. Nittany Ave. while she was taking a shower at 6:44 yesterday morning, State College police said.
The woman said she got out of the shower and saw only a small hand with no jewelry reach in through the window, police said.

Criminal Mischief: A window on the third floor study lounge of Porter Hall was found broken after an anonymous phone call reported that a group of people were acting disorderly in that area early Sunday morning, University Police Services said. Damage is estimated at $100.

Criminal Mischief: A study lounge window on the fifth floor of Pennypacker Hall was reported smashed sometime Sunday evening, University police said. No damage estimate was available.

Theft: A blue backpack with a leather bottom belonging to Felipe Ruffat, 925 Bellaire Ave., was reported taken from the shelf at the Wildcard store, 346 E. College Ave., at about 8 Saturday night, State College police said.
The backpack and its contents, an economics book, a statistics book, binders, computer disks and notepaper are valued at $117, police said.

Theft: A spare-tire holder, valued at $100, was taken from a car belonging to Steven Fizzano while the vehicle was in Parking Area Brown F between 2 a.m. and 12 p.m. Sunday, University police said.

Theft: A denim jacket valued at $100 belonging to David Sharron, 810 Walnut St., was reported taken from a party at 320 E. Beaver Ave. sometime between Saturday and Sunday, State College police said. A small amount of cash was in the jacket pocket, police said.
