Don't reinstate James
Have you heard the latest news ringing from the doors of the USG Senate? Yes, that is correct, Undergraduate Student Vice President J. David James was charged with taking more than $800 from the USG office. Not only did he (allegedly) steal $280 during the month of November, but (allegedly) felt it his duty to take an additional $570 a month later. I can honestly say that I am proud of the shoddy reputation he has received from having his (alleged) criminal life in the papers for the past two weeks. Not only did he (allegedly) steal from other members in USG, but he (allegedly) stole from the students at this University. Question: What has the (USG) Senate done about it? Answer: "(USG Senate President Ron) Marlow said that under suspension status, James can be fully reinstated as USG Senate vice president at a later date" (The Daily Collegian, Jan. 15). Ron, what were you thinking about? First of all, this man might be serving time in prison. Secondly, I would think he probably would be expelled from this University. Call me crazy, but I do not want someone charged with taking $800 from the students to be allowed privilege as senate vice president. Hasn't anyone else on the senate thought about this? Or have you senators been too busy trying to impeach Janyne Althaus, who in my opinion is a true-born leader doing only what is best for the students.
