University Board of Trustees member Ben Novak will speak about new directions for the Undergraduate Student Government at 7:30 tonight at the USG senate meeting.
"The gist of Novak's speech will have many things that the senate can use on how to build and plan for the future," Senate President Ron Marlow said. "It was a two-way street. Senators mentioned to me that they wanted a trustee to come in, and Ben Novak expressed interest in coming before USG to speak."
Novak was not available for comment yesterday.
Senators expressed enthusiasm about Novak's speech.
"I feel that it is an honor and a great opportunity to have a key trustee like Novak to speak before us," East Halls Senator Saul Treiman said.
"I like the idea that a University trustee is going to attend one of our meetings," town Senator Don Bowman added. "The fact that Mr. Novak is outspoken is going to make for an interesting evening."
Marlow said other speakers are expected to speak at USG meetings throughout the semester, including Borough Manager Peter Marshall on Jan. 23 and University President Bryce Jordan on Feb. 13. He also said Sen. J. Doyle Corman, R-Bellefonte, may attend the Feb. 20 meeting.
