Police Log

  • Computer and printer found in downtown store: A Macintosh computer and printer, valued at $1,500, was recovered at a downtown business yesterday, University Police Services said.

    The computer was reported taken from Borland Laboratory yesterday morning, and police said an investigation is continuing.

  • Bellefonte man in county prison on assault charges: A Bellefonte man is in Centre County Prison in lieu of $1,000 bail on assault charges resulting from an incident on Thursday, Rockview state police said.

    Hassell Martin, 25, of Fifth Alley in Bellefonte, was arrested in connection with the assault of Tina Ball, 23, also of Fifth Alley in Bellefonte. Police did not know if Ball required medical treatment.

  • Criminal Mischief: Michael Crawford, 675 Waupelani Drive, was apprehended by State College Bureau of Police Services for allegedly breaking a glass case containing a firehose in the 'B' apartment building of 1000 Plaza Drive at 1:42 Saturday morning, police said.

    A building security guard reportedly spotted Crawford breaking the glass case, and notified police. No damage estimate was available.

  • Criminal Mischief: A University student whom police would not identify allegedly smashed a window Friday in Shunk Hall with his hand, resulting in numerous lacerations, University police said.

    When University police responded to an ambulance call to treat the student at 115 Shunk Hall, they found three street signs illegally kept in the room. Charges are pending, police said.

  • Disorderly Conduct: A man who refused to identify himself after causing an incident at the Centre Community Hospital early yesterday morning is in Centre County Prison in lieu of $150 bail, State College police said.

    The man was taken before District Magistrate Robert May and arraigned as John Doe on charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after the incident at 6:28 yesterday morning, police said. Further details were not available from police or hospital officials.

  • Theft: A $350 leather jacket belonging to David Chandler, 115 Beaver Hall, was reported taken from the coat room at 300 S. Pugh St. sometime in the early morning of Jan. 13, State College police said.

  • Theft: A $275 leather jacket belonging to Stacy Schultz, 900 Crabapple Drive, was reported taken from 424 Waupelani Drive sometime on the night of Jan. 13, State College police said.

  • Theft: A calculator, belonging to Bob Singh, 1029 W. Beaver Ave., was taken from 113 McAllister Building yesterday afternoon, University police said. The calculator was valued at $150.
