NEWS
 
The Undergraduate Student Government passed a resolution last night recommending the University to allow payment of student tuition bills in three installments rather than one at the beginning of a semester.
 
The creation of a second alumni organization for the University fraternities was announced yesterday, prompting concern about its public relations and advising roles.
 
Disposal of 83,500 pounds of batteries used every year in the United States concerns many state energy conservation agencies since most batteries contain mercury or other toxins which pose environmental and health threats to the air and water.
 
Undergraduate Student Government Senate Vice President J. David James faces charges in a preliminary hearing today that he took more than $500 in cash and checks from the USG office in December.
 
Strong faculty support and growing student interest made possible the listing of several new courses in the Black Studies and Women's Studies programs for the spring 1990 schedule of classes.

The recycling contract formalized at yesterday's Centre County commissioners' meeting will allow the Centre County Solid Waste Authority to further develop the region's booming recycling program, a spokeswoman for the commissioners said.
