  • Local youth in fair condition after accidental gun wound: A Bellefonte youth was in fair condition in Centre Community Hospital after he was accidentally shot in the neck by his older brother late yesterday afternoon, Bellefonte police said.

    Jason Fitzgerald, 14, 237 E. Bishop Ave., was cleaning a 16-gauge shotgun when the weapon accidentally fired, wounding his seven year- old brother Matthew in the neck, police said. Fitzgerald was taken to the hospital by the Logan Fire Company Ambulance service.

  • Auto's failure to yield prompts two-car accident downtown: No one was injured in a two-car accident at the corner of East Prospect Avenue and Garner Street at 11:47 yesterday morning, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    William R. Adams, 21, of Washington, Pa., was traveling west on East Prospect Avenue, stopped at the intersection and pulled out before he saw a car driven by Kenneth M. Lusht, 38, 1957 Norwood Lane, heading south on Garner Street, police said. Adams' car broadsided Lusht's, causing $250 damage to Adams' car and $3,500 damage to Lusht's. Neither vehicle had to be towed.

    Adams was cited for failing to yield to through traffic.

  • Burglary: A compact disc player valued at $300 and a VCR valued at $200 belonging to Angela Sorrentino and Linda Zaltzman, both of 119 Locust Lane, were reported taken sometime between Dec. 14 and Jan. 6, State College police reported.

    Police said they found no signs of forced entry at the residence.

  • Theft: A compact disc player, 30 compact discs and a microwave oven with a total value of $1,064, were stolen from the dorm room of John Rodia, 209 Hamilton Hall, sometime between Dec. 15 and yesterday, University Police Services said. Police found no sign of forced entry.
