From the Alliance for Animal Rights to the Rugby Football Club, students can learn more about some of the activities offered at the University by attending the Student Involvement Fair today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each group involved in the program is given a table at the HUB, where it provides information to students interested in joining its organization.
"Students are able to speak with members of the organization they are interested in so they can find out more about a group before they join it,"said Jennifer Aikey, the secretary for student involvement and leadership.
Aikey said new students or students transferring from Commonwealth campuses benefit from the program by becoming aware of the activities available at the University.
Returning students also benefit by learning about organizations previously unknown to them, she added.
"You'd be surprised at all of the activities that students can join," Aikey said.
Activities enrich an individual's university experience by allowing them to become involved in the University community, she added.
The participating organizations also benefit from the program, said Ronald Maxwell, Fiction Writer's Club adviser.
"The Student Involvement Fair is extremely useful for soliciting membership for our organization," he added.
"It has proven very useful in letting students know that we exist and learn what we have to offer," Maxwell said.
Exposure is important for any activity that wants to solicit membership, Maxwell said.
