Stuck car accelerator sends vehicle careening into building: The accelerator of a car driven by Gloria C. Eberhart, 59, of Cresson, apparently stuck and caused her car to speed from its parking space at the 200 block of South Burrowes Street at 3:17 Saturday afternoon, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
The car came to a stop when it ran into a building at 217 S. Atherton St. Police said the building was only slightly damaged.
Eberhart and her two passengers, Marcie Eberhart, 20, and Kristen Eberhart, 13, were slightly injured but not hospitalized.

Car leaving David Weis lot collides with car on Benner: One car had to be towed as a result of a two-car accident at the intersection of the David Weis parking lot and Benner Pike at 9:58 Thursday night, State College police said.
Kevin M. Stahl, 30, of State College was driving West on Benner Pike when a car driven by Donald C. McFall, 45, Pleasant Gap, pulled from the David Weis parking lot, police said.
The front end of Stahl's car was damaged and had to be towed from the scene. McFalls's car was damaged on the driver's side door and fender, police said. No damage estimate for either car was available.

Vehicle rear-ended Thurs. in midday two-car collision: No one was injured in a two-car collision at the intersection of South Atherton and South Allen streets at 3:28 Thursday afternoon, but one car had to be towed, State College Police said.
A car driven by Jennifer Vincente, 21, of Media, had to be towed after being rear-ended by a car driven by Patrick J. Poss, 23, 255 McBath St., police said.
A section of the trunk on Vincente's car was pushed in toward the driver's seat and the grill and headlight of Poss' car were broken, police said. No cost estimate of the damage was available.
Poss told police that Vincente changed lanes without signaling and that he tried to stop in time but could not. Vincente was cited for an expired vehicle registration.

Man hit by CATA bus while standing on College Avenue: While attempting to enter his car, a State College pedestrian was hit by a CATA bus and slightly injured Friday morning, State College police said.
Stephen J. Kotch, 19, 458 E. College Ave., told police he saw the oncoming bus and leaned toward his car to avoid it. Kotch said the bus scraped him, slightly injuring his right arm and damaging his jacket, and pushing him into his car, which set off its alarm, police said.
The bus driver, John D. Johnston, 29, Warriors Mark, told police that he remembered seeing Kotch standing in the street by his car but did not think the bus touched Kotch, police said.
Police inspected the bus and found a clean spot above the right front wheel well and said that was apparently the point of contact. No citations were issued by police.

Old gravestone found near Prospect Avenue residence: A section of a gravestone was found near 652 E. Prospect Ave. at 11:40 Friday morning, State College police said.
The section of stone stands about one foot wide, two feet high and four inches thick and has the name Mary Henney carved on it. The date of birth on the stone in July 28, 1858 and the date of death is August 1, 1858, police said. An investigation is continuing.

Head-on crash on Route 322; one driver sent to hospital: A Campbelltown woman was in fair condition yesterday in Centre Community Hospital after her car crashed head-on with another vehicle Saturday evening on Route 322 near Potter Township, Rockview state police said.
Joyce Myers, 42, suffered minor cuts and abrasions when a car driven westbound by Denise Deppe, 21, of Whitehall crossed into the eastbound lane and into the path of Myers, a hospital spokeswoman said. Deppe suffered minor leg injuries, and was treated and released.

Burglary: Video and audio equipment valued at $3,369 and owned by Joseph Thier, 24, was reported taken from his locked apartment at 411 Martin Terrace sometime between 11 p.m. Jan. 6 and 1 a.m. Jan. 7, State College police said.
Items taken include a $1,300 Sony camcorder, $780 worth of tapes, $240 worth of blank tapes, a $350 Fisher VCR and a $200 Fender amplifier.
Police said there was no evidence of forced entry into the apartment.

Burglary: Someone broke into the Boalsburg Steak House sometime between 3 a.m. and 7:42 a.m. Saturday and took Friday night's cash receipts, State College police said.
Police said the burglars entered the building by removing bolts which held bars over a basement window and forcing the window open. An undetermined amount of cash was removed from the restaurant's safe.

Theft: Two duffel bags containing about $150 in ski equipment and personal items belonging to Robert P. Snider, 50, Reedsville, and Cynthia Runkle, 36, Lewistown, was taken from a truck parked in the instructor's lot at the Tussey Mountain Ski Resort sometime between 7 and 10 p.m. Friday, State College Police said.

Theft: Two rear-fender fiberglass panels valued at $200 were reported taken from a 1987 Mustang that is for sale at John O'Connels Auto, 1211 E. College Ave. sometime between Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, State College police said.

Theft: Car stereo speakers, a tape case and tapes, with a total value of $445, were reported taken from a car parked in the 1000 Plaza Drive parking lot, State College police said.
The driver's door window of the car, owned by Michael T. Goss, Middletown, was smashed sometime overnight between Jan. 4 and Jan. 5.

Theft: An electronic typewriter valued at $350 was reported taken from a car belonging to Forrest Coley, 204 S. Sparks St., while it was parked near 700 W. Highland Ave, State College police said.
Coley told police the typewriter was taken sometime overnight between Jan. 3 and Jan. 4.
