A University student has been missing since the end of finals week and University Police Services is continuing attempts to locate him.
Andrew T. McCarter, 22, 413 Mifflin Hall, was last seen by his roommate at 6 a.m. on Dec. 14 in Mifflin Hall. McCarter, an art history major, is from Allentown and was last seen by his family when they accompanied him to his dorm room at the end of Thanksgiving vacation, police said.
Friends of McCarter told police the man had been depressed recently and was concerned about his January graduation.
McCarter, an "A" student who would have graduated, did not attend any classes after he returned from Thanksgiving and did not take any final exams, according to police.
He apparently lived somewhere other than his dorm room between the end of Thanksgiving vacation and the end of finals, police said. McCarter's roommate and other students on the floor told police they saw him only when he returned to take showers or pick up personal belongings.
The missing student's roommate told police McCarter did not sleep in the room. No one whom the police have questioned knows where McCarter stayed during this period, police said.
McCarter's family told police they intended to pick him up at the end of finals week and take him home but he never called to make arrangements for the trip, police said.
Some of McCarter's friends told police McCarter had mentioned buying a bus ticket to Cincinnati. However McCarter's family said he had never mentioned knowing anyone in Cincinnati or having any reason to go there, according to police.
McCarter's family could not be contacted for comment.
Police ask that anyone with information about McCarter or his whereabouts notify University Police Services at 863-1111. Police officials said all information will be kept confidential.
