Letter to the Editor
Ignoring the facts

While the whole world is finally convinced that Israel is the real obstacle to peace in the Middle East, Mr. Sussman took upon himself the task to prove otherwise. In his biased (column) which appeared in The Daily Collegian on Tuesday, Oct. 24, he put all the blame on the PLO, and showed Israel as the one with all the good intentions.

I would like to ask Mr. Sussman: While the PLO has stopped all its military attacks on Israel, what has Israel done to show good intentions for peace?

-- It has been beating, arresting, deporting and shooting to death Palestinian men, women, and children in the West Bank and Gaza (so far, more than 600 Palestinians have been killed, 20,000 have been injured and beaten -- many to death -- and thousands have been imprisoned).

-- It has been bombing defenseless Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon on monthly bases.

-- It has been building Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza, the land Israel is supposed to give back to the Palestinians after negotiations, if they ever occur.

All this has been ignored by Mr. Sussman. I hope he will remember some of it when he writes his next article about peace in the Middle East.
