  • Three men hurt in accident at Nittany Mall entrance: Three State College men sustained minor injuries during a car accident yesterday at the Nittany Mall entrance onto Benner Pike in College Township, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Joseph Hunt, Fred Hoffman and Herbert Anders all of Foxdale Village, 500 E. Marylyn Ave., were taken by Alpha Ambulance to Centre Community Hospital where they were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

    The three men were traveling north at about 45 mph on Benner Pike in a car driven by Daniel C. Frysinger, 74, also of Foxdale Village, when it was broadsided by a car driven by Jennifer Lynne McCoy, 20, 125 W. Aaron Dr., police said.

    McCoy was attempting to enter traffic from the Benner Pike entrance of the Nittany Mall when her car struck the vehicle, police said.

    McCoy told police she had difficulty seeing around the construction at the entrance. McCoy was not injured.

    Police said both vehicles sustained severe damage.

  • University student injured in motorcycle, truck crash: A University student suffered minor injuries when his motorcycle collided with a truck on Bigler Road Wednesday, University Police Services said.

    Scott Miller, 420 E. Prospect Ave., was treated at Centre Community Hospital for a broken finger on his left hand and released, police said.

    Miller was driving his motorcycle north on Bigler Road when a truck driven by Douglas Keith, 114 Oak Lane, attempted to make a left turn into Parking Lot Orange B from the southbound lane.

    Miller's motorcycle struck the truck's front left fender and landed on the curb.

    The motorcycle was moderately damaged and the truck was undamaged.

    Keith was issued a citation for making an illegal turn and Miller was cited for driving without a motorcycle license.

  • Theft: A blue sapphire ring with 12 surrounding diamonds valued at $500 was taken from the residence of Jennifer Jessup, 205 Cross, Monday morning, University police said.

  • Theft: A brown suede leather jacket, two pairs of boots and a pair of shoes with a total value of $828 were taken from a window display at the Bostonian Ltd., 106 S. Allen St., sometime before yesterday, State College police said.

    Police said an unknown person or persons broke three windows to gain access to the merchandise.

  • Theft: A "road closed" sign and a reflective barricade belonging to Protective Services Inc. of Altoona, were taken from a construction site located at the corner of East Foster Avenue and Garner Street sometime Wednesday night, State College police said.

    Police could not estimate the cost of the items.
