The University Readers, which have hosted holiday performances since 1947, will hold auditions at 7:30 p.m., today, in room 309 Sparks for this year's Halloween performances. Students will be asked to do a cold reading of The Readers scripts using vocal diversity and extensive facial gestures.
"We act with our voice and face," Tony M. Lentz, faculty advisor said. "The real story is in the audience's mind." The performances, which are geared for children, are sponsored by Schlow Library and the State College Parks and Recreation Department. Stories will be told at 7:00 p.m. October 26 at Schlow and at 2:00 p.m. October 29 at the Junior High School.
Actors from Market Theatre of South Africa will describe their experiences with apartheid at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Women's Studies Lounge, 12 Sparks Building.
The actors will speak as part of "Artistic Viewpoints,"a new lecture series sponsored by the Centre for Performing Arts.
