University President Bryce Jordan told members of the House Education Committee last Friday he expects a "promising marriage" from the planned merger of Penn State and the Williamsport Area Community College.
 
Although the nomination of University official Thomas Larson to head the Federal Highway Administration was officially announced by President George Bush after weeks of rumors, the transportation expert still has work to do before he can join the Bush team.
 
Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and Zeta Beta Tau fraternity are distributing gray "Ribbons Against Racism" throughout Spring Week in order to increase awareness and support toward the elimination of racism.
 
Although the University has provided kosher meals for on-campus students who observe Passover for at least 15 years, some students say Housing and Food Services needs to make the program more accessible and affordable.
 
University freshmen earning less than a "C" at mid-semester will be notified by their professors if the Faculty Senate approves pending legislation during its meeting at 1:30 this afternoon in 112 Kern.
 
About 25 members of the black community presented 10 demands to University administrators yesterday afternoon, reiterating many requests first asked for one year ago today, and demanding they be implemented by tomorrow.
 
The State College Borough Council narrowly endorsed the state's tax reform act last night after some members argued that it is not the council's prerogative to promote legislation to the public.

The 1989 Bellefonte/State College Donnelley Directories - to be distributed during the next four to six weeks - display a significant increase in the number of yellow pages and an over 50 percent increase in coupons.
 
Students living on the fourth floor of Hastings Hall will be reimbursed for the costs of dry-cleaning clothes which were soiled as a result of the fire that occurred in January.

The men's golf team, due to a strong round on Sunday, finished in second place at the Rutherford Invitational held at the Blue Course.
 
The men's lacrosse team hopes to bounce back today from Saturday's 12-6 loss to Rutgers when it plays at the University of Maryland - Baltimore County.

The crowd chattered expectantly and jockeyed for better position in the tightly packed bleachers as the tuxedoed man with the blue bow tie gave the ice a final sweep with the Zamboni.
 
Last week, artist Frederick Franck celebrated his 80th birthday as well as the release of his latest book, Criteria of Being Human Aboard Spaceship Titanic.
 
Some audience members stood and sang, others sat and clapped, but all participated when the United Soul Ensemble presented their concert Saturday in Eisenhower Auditorium.
 
Three-time Grammy winner John Hartford entertained a crowd of bluegrass music fans Thursday night at the Brickhouse Tavern.
 
Yuri Turovsky, the remarkably talented Russian-Canadian cellist and conductor, led and played with his chamber orchestra I Musici de Montreal Friday evening in a well-attended Schwab Auditorium. Turovsky's straightforward skill as a conductor was rivaled by his more intriguing and stirring performances as cellist.
