On behalf of the outgoing Undergraduate Student Government executive branch, we would like to express our support of the unionization efforts of the Penn State Office Workers Organizing Committee and for their April 4 kick-off of their card-signing campaign.

We believe the OWOC's efforts toward establishing a more democratic workplace can only benefit Penn State as an institution of higher learning.

A union will provide Penn State office workers with a much-needed voice in decisions about working conditions, pay equity, benefits, and other critical issues.

As Penn State's office workers are the often-forgotten backbone of this University's operations, we urge the students, faculty and staff to support the OWOC's efforts over the next few weeks. Clerical unionization is one more necessary step toward a truly democratic Penn State.
