Children, sporting juice mustaches and cookie-crumbed outfits, will scurry about the area, searching for hidden eggs.
In the midst of the activity, the Easter Bunny will hop around, telling tales and playing games with the youngsters.
Between 40 and 50 children are expected to participate in the "Easter Kindness" philanthropy sponsored by Chi Omega sorority, said Philanthropy Chairwoman Amy Bauer. Children from Centre and Clearfield County Child Services will visit the sorority's suite in Haller Hall at 10 this morning to celebrate the Easter holiday.
A variety of activities are prepared for the children, Bauer said. Six stations supply materials for activities such as egg dying, basket making and bunny hopping, Bauer said.
The Easter Bunny, portrayed by sorority member Christie Donohue, will entertain the children with stories and games.
"This is my first year as the Easter Bunny," Donohue said. "I can't wait!"
The youngsters separate into small groups and rotate to the different stations, Bauer said. Sorority members each are assigned a child to spend time with, she added.
"It's a very nice idea . . . the children have always enjoyed it," said Grace Lang, a home visitor from the child services center.
"We've been doing this for about the past ten years," Bauer said, adding "They just really like this."
Sorority members contribute both time organizing activities prior to the event and time playing with the children, she said.
"Pretty much everyone tries to be involved in it somehow," said sorority President Debbie Bowser said. "It's really fun, the kids are great."
The children are gathered for cookies and juice at the program's conclusion, Bowser said.
"I think it's really rewarding for both sides," Bauer said, adding that members enjoy being "kids for the day."
