Police Log

  • Three area residents held, charged in drug violations: Three area men were charged with multiple drug law violations Friday, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Police, acting on an anonymous tip that a drug delivery was occurring behind Zimm's Restaurant, 2501 E. College Ave., identified and apprehended the men.

    The individuals were arrested on charges of Act 64 violations. Act 64 is the Pennsylvania Controlled Substance, Drug and Device Cosmetic Act.

    District Justice Clifford Yorks charged Chad Eminhizer, 31, of 313 E. Bishop St. in Bellefonte, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

    Michael Solt, 36, 480 Robinson Lane, Bellefonte was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, police said.

    Randy Emel, 32, of Centre Hall, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

    Solt was reportedly holding a bag of marijuana when the police officer approached the car, police said. Police searched the vehicles and found four additional bags of marijuana totaling about a half pound, worth $750 on the street, authorities said.

    All three men were placed in Centre County Jail on $10,000 bail each, police said. Each has posted bail and has been released, according to a prison official.

  • S.C. woman escapes attacker after kicking him in groin: A State College woman reportedly was assaulted by two men early Saturday morning in the 400 block of Calder Way, authorities said.

    Police said the woman, whom they would not identify, was walking west in Calder Alley about 1:45 Friday morning when two men confronted he. One of the men put his arm around the woman and then pushed her to the ground while the other man watched, police said.

    He reportedly put his hands under her clothing when she was on the ground, police said.

    The woman told police she escaped after kicking the man in the groin.

  • Three unidentified rescuers thwart man attacking woman: A man in the midst of assaulting a woman Friday evening was interrupted when three unidentified males attacked him, authorities said.

    Witnesses told the State College Bureau of Police Services that a man and a woman were arguing in the Park Hills Apartments parking garage, 348 E. Beaver St., about 6:00 Friday evening. Three men walking through the area intervened when they saw the man push the woman, witnesses said.

    During the ensuing fracas, the woman reportedly retaliated against the man by punching him in the head, police said.

    Everyone was gone when police arrived.

  • Philipsburg man faces charges in alleged rape of 16-year-old: Philipsburg state police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in the village of Pine Glenn last Friday.

    District Justice Ronald Horner arraigned the man on charges of rape, indecent assault and corruption of minors, police said.

    He was placed in Centre County prison in lieu of $15,000 bail, police said.

  • Caller alleges hospital bomb; police search for suspects: An unidentified man telephoned the Centre Community Hospital Friday night and reported that a bomb was set to go off on the premises, authorities said yesterday.

    State College Bureau of Police Services officers and hospital employees searched the facility that night, but found no evidence of a bomb. The threat was received by a hospital operator at 11 p.m., prompting officials to institute a bomb-threat policy that involves notification of doctors and a search procedure. Hospital administrators chose not to evacuate the building, a spokeswoman said.

    Authorities have questioned several people in connection with the threat, but no arrests were made yesterday, a police spokeswoman said.

  • Boalsburg area man arraigned in weekend beating of friend: A Boalsburg man was charged with assault yesterday morning after he reportedly beat up his girlfriend, authorities said.

    Jeffrey L. Gunsallus, 26, 1121 Earlystown Road, was arraigned before District Justice Ronald Horner Sunday morning on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, police said.

    He was being held yesterday in the Centre County Prison on $1,000 bail, a prison spokesman said.

    Police said they arrested Gunsallus Saturday night in his residence after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and attempted to choke her.

    The woman, who police would not identify, received facial lacerations and bruises.

  • Pastry perpetrator pinched for cake chaos at pizza parlor: A Lewistown man was charged with criminal mischief Saturday after he reportedly destroyed a chocolate cake at Hi-Way Pizza in the Parkway Plaza shopping center, police said.

    Kenneth W. Stewart, 22, was arraigned Saturday on charges of retail theft and criminal mischief and is being held in the Centre County Prison, the State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Stewart, who is on parole from a state correctional institution, was also charged with parole violations in connection with the incident, police said.

    Police said the alleged theft occurred about 8:40 Saturday evening when Stewart, who was apparently intoxicated, began eating the cake after eating a pizza in the restaurant. After eating part of the cake, Stewart reportedly began sampling other confections that were on display.

    He also ate a piece of Irish cream pie, police said. Losses and damages to the pastry totaled $22.90.

  • Delaware Co. man stitched after attempt to quell melee: A Delaware County resident was injured early Sunday morning while attempting to break up a fight outside a local fraternity, police said.

    Pat Reilly of Glen Riddle received several stitches in his face and a chipped tooth when he was punched outside the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, 409 E. Fairmount Ave., the State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    He was treated and released at the Centre Community Hospital Sunday, police said.

  • Fraternity fracas results in injury of University student: A University student was reportedly assaulted early Sunday morning outside a Locust Lane fraternity house, officials said.

    Jaime Sierra, of Mifflin Hall, received facial stitches after he was punched during a fistfight inside Acacia fraternity, 234 Locust Lane, the State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    He was treated and released from the Centre Community Hospital yesterday, police said.

  • Prison for DuBois area man accused of S.C. cocaine sale: A Clearfield County man was charged with possessing and delivering cocaine at a local fast food restaurant last Thursday, authorities said.

    State College police apprehended Dale Ross, 37, of DuBois at Arby's restaurant, 400 W. College Ave. Ross was charged with delivering one ounce of cocaine worth $2,800, police said.

    District Justice Robert May arraigned Ross on charges of possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to deliver and delivery of cocaine, police said.

    He was placed in Centre County jail in lieu of $2,800 bail.

  • Man in window over Skeller exposes himself to passers-by: A man reportedly exposed himself to passersby on South Pugh Street Friday afternoon, borough police said yesterday.

    Witnesses told the State College Bureau of Police Services that the man was standing nude in an apartment window above the All-American Rathskeller, 108 S. Pugh St.

    "He didn't even have green on," a police spokeswoman said of the St. Patrick's day perpetrator.

    Police said the man was gone when they arrived on the scene.

  • Accident involving 3 cars on campus injures no one: A three-car accident in University's Lot Green E Friday resulted in light damage to each vehicle, University police said.

    Jon Reitz of Johnstown struck a vehicle owned by George Jakopac, 20 Paradise Road in Sikesville, when Reitz was attempting to back his car out of a parking space, University police said. The impact caused Jakopac's car to hit a car owned by Cheryl Moore of Kane.

    Each car sustained light damage in the incident, police said. No injuries were reported.

  • Women report harassment by group of males in auto: A group of women walking in the intersection of East Beaver and High Street early Saturday morning were reportedly harassed by several men in a car, borough police said yesterday.

    The men stopped their car, shouted sexist epithets at the women and then drove off, State College police said.

    The women told police the men appeared to be intoxicated.

  • Local man slightly injured in Halfmoon Township mishap: A Warriors Mark man suffered minor injuries after he lost control of his vehicle on Morengo Road in Halfmoon Township yesterday, authorities said.

    Kenneth Myers, 21, attempted to negotiate a turn on Morengo Road, lost control of his car and struck a tree, Philipsburg state police said.

    Myers was treated at Centre Community Hospital and released, a hospital nursing supervisor said.

  • Man suffers internal injuries after weekend tree collision: A Snow Shoe area man suffered abdominal injuries Saturday after driving his car into a tree along Route 144, authorities said.

    Dallas Mann, 45, of Snow Shoe was driving north on Route 144 when he lost control of his car and slid into a tree on the west side of the road, Philipsburg state police said. The car was totaled in the incident, police said.

    Mann remains in Centre Community Hospital for observation of his injuries, a nursing supervisor at the hospital said.

  • Theft: A leather jacket, a pair of glasses and cash belonging to Brandie Smith, 418 E. College Ave., were taken early Sunday morning from the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, the State College Bureau of Police Services said. Loss is estimated at $307.

  • Theft: Nine bowling pins were reportedly taken early Sunday morning from the Armenara Lanes, 127 Sowers St., State College police said. No loss estimate was available.
