  • Court: Philadelphia area man faces 125 felony charges: A Philadelphia man charged with rape Saturday is facing a total of 125 felony charges in incidents that occurred over a seven-month period, a county court official said yesterday.

Gregory Leo Gerace, 47, 1307 S. Fairhill St., is charged with 50 counts of rape, 50 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and 25 counts of indecent assault, a spokeswoman for the Centre County Court Administrator's office said.

Gerace is accused of raping a 22-year old woman 50 times between August 1988 and February of this year in the State College, Ferguson Township and the Penn State campus areas.

University police said Monday Gerace was charged with 37 counts of rape, but court records now indicate he is charged with 50 counts.

Gerace's preliminary hearing is scheduled tomorrow in the Centre County Court of Common Pleas. He is currently being held on $250,000 bail in the county prison, the spokeswoman said.

  • Police: Locker room intruder sought scale to weigh himself: A man who entered the women's locker room in Rec Hall Saturday evening was apparently searching for a place to weigh himself, University police said yesterday.

The man reportedly entered the facility and stepped on a scale that is located near the entrance, police said. Witnesses reported the man, who was described as weighing in excess of 300 pounds, became visibly embarrassed when he realized he was in the women's locker room and quickly left the scene.

  • 2-car accident in borough slightly damages both vehicles: A two-car accident yesterday at the intersection of South Pugh Street and Easterly Parkway caused moderate damage to both vehicles, the State College Bureau of Police Services said.

Michelle Moerschbacher, 1201 Shiloh Road, traveling west on Easterly Parkway, entered the intersection and struck a car driven by Edith M. Julia of Hunter Avenue, police said.

Julia, traveling north on South Pugh Street, was parked at a stop sign at the intersection when she was struck by Moerschbacher.

Both cars sustained moderate damage in the collision but neither driver was injured.

  • Deer jumps into car's path; woman swerves into ditch: An area woman's vehicle sustained minor damage Monday when a deer jumped into her path on a local roadway, Rockview state police said.

Veronica J. Brown, 20, of Pine Grove Mills was traveling east on Shingleton Road when the deer entered her path, police said.
