Two University faculty members have discovered it is possible to find at home an affordable and successful alternative to traditional child care -- even when both parents work.
 
One of the main information arteries of the weather world is nestled in the heart of Happy Valley.
 
Advances in current weather radar technology have paved the way for better rainstorm, hailstorm and flash flood prediction, according to University researchers.
 
Beginning with only cast-offs and hand-me-downs, University researchers have endured to become the world authorities on water vapor in the upper atmosphere. Soon they will even be able to take these measurements from a space shuttle.
 
The University will initiate a toll-free hotline beginning Friday to answer questions regarding the racial climate here, said the assistant vice president of the Division of Campus Life.
 
Area retail stores that violate Pennsylvania's obscenity law will be uniformly prosecuted, the Centre County District Attorney said yesterday.
 
Another contender has entered the arena for one of the four open seats on the State College Area School District School Board.

SPORTS
 
Jenny Hillen did not enjoy her last visit to Rec Hall. West Virginia dropped a 70-61 decision to the Lady Lions, and Hillen suffered through the worst game of what has been a fine senior season.
 
Things were going a bit too good for the women's basketball team as it headed into the Atlantic 10 playoffs. The Lady Lions won the coin flip for the home-court advantage for their quarterfinal matchup against West Virginia, and the Lady Mountaineers never had won at Rec Hall.
 
Although the softball team managed just two wins in 17 games on its recent southwest road swing, Coach Sue Rankin still found something positive to talk about.
 
The men's basketball team is on a mission that many would have considered impossible just a few days ago.
 
Going into tonight's Atlantic 10 Conference championship, Rutgers is riding the crest of a seven-game winning streak. Last season, that was the total number of games won by the Scarlet Knights under Coach Craig Littlepage.
