Letter to the Editor
Biased
It seems that everyone who writes a letter to this newspaper lately can't seem to do it without mentioning the word Biased. It seems to be even more effective if the article or subject matter to which they are referring deals with any distant connotation of sexual, racial, cultural or religious harassment. Debra A. Rega's response to Laura Pace's review of the recent Ziggy Marley concert is yet another addition to the biased/lack of respect hall of fame. Let me first make clear that Laura not only writes reviews of reggae shows. She has been responsible for reviews of everything from AC/DC to Ziggy Marley and back again a few times. She's not a musician, she's a music critic. Don't get me wrong. I don't always, agree with what she has to say either. However, I read it, and I respect it. The reason that I respect it is that I know what it takes to have something written and ready to print by a certain time. The bottom line is: if you don't like what you're reading, go out and get yourself a column or a job as a reporter and write something for yourself. Then, at least you'll appreciate the work that goes into it. Mike Matthews
